“The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalms 118:22-24
This scripture is a prophecy of Jesus, He is the stone that the builders refused, David sees the coming of Christ and rejoices. The twenty-third verse is often quoted in reference to any and everyday. “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Although it is true that the Lord has made everyday, David's focus was on special day that had come to fruition in time. Rome had spread beyond any empire before it further spreading a singular language of Greek. This allowed the gospel to be shared in ways unimaginable prior to the Roman Empire. Jerusalem, as it is today, was an epicenter of expectation, culture and faith. God had even placed the stars in the sky to shine forth a symbol of when and were His Son was to be born. Over two-thousand years latter we are still celebrating that day, we still rejoice we are still glad. The stone that the builders refused has to us who believe become a rock of salvation!
It is wonderful to meditate on the events of history and see how God has kept His Son at the center of human thought. Although the enemy would like nothing more then to blot out His name, His kingdom is everlasting. We are still marking the day that Lord had made!
Our families sincerest thank you for all the cards and gifts this Christmas season. We are overwhelmed by the goodness of God that He has sent us here to be your Pastor. We have rejoiced everyday and love Iowa, yes even the winter because it to is apart of our new home. Personally in my life I can say “This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.” It is our prayer that everyone in this church will feel that way, that 2009 become a year of Jubilee! There is so much that can be done that will make life so exciting, it is a great thing to live for the Lord. This January we will begin having Wednesday night service starting at 6:30 make a commitment now to be apart of this worship all year. We also have several bible study groups throughout the week to be involved with so I encourage you be involved! The harvest is ready but the labors are few, pray that the Lord will send laborers into the field.
Peace be with You!
